My daughter suggested I cater
weddings to fund landscaping our
6 acres
of mountain property into
the peace gardens we want to
make as a family.
Creating gardens that would be
enjoyed long after our family was
gone became my husband, Michael,
and
my goal as we collected, boxed,
and moved perennials, bulbs, and
roses until we settled on Katka Mtn.
where
they could put down roots
in beds.
I have experience organizing
parties
for our family and church
with 30 adults and children. I will
cater weddings and receptions
for
30 guests because I know I can
provide bridal couples a satisfying
marriage celebration for that many
of
their families and friends.
Welcoming kids and pets make a
party more fun for the whole
family.
I know when people are well fed,
seated comfortably, have convenient
restrooms
[not porta potties], and
can participate in activities, they
will have a good time.
20 years ago, I began collecting
cut glass serving plates and bowls.
I now have dozens, large, medium,
and
small. I also enjoy collecting
clear glass condiment plates and
candy dishes.
A friend gave me a grape
design fluted punch bowl and 4
matching cups and plates. I
now
have 6 bowls in 2 designs and
enough cups and plates to
comfortably serve newlyweds
and
30 guests.
I will buy new, clear glass, salad
plates and bowls, glasses and cups,
and
stainless steel silverware.
I will also buy glass topped dinning
tables, comfortable chairs,
and
umbrellas.
Local thrift stores almost gave
me 40 cut glass bud vases and
20
table bouquet vases.
Serving tables look dressed up
when they are covered with tissue
paper
and large doilies are placed
under each serving dish and the
bouquet of roses. Dinning tables
look
nice with doilies under rose
bouquets, food dishes, and
beverage containers.
The Question became what would
make an attractive catering package
which would warrant charging enough
to
finance creating a 4 season
mountain peace garden.
A review of wedding and reception
catering
packages advertized on the
internet revealed that most
did not offer wedding flowers or cake
nor
did they include refreshments or
activities. Children were never
mentioned nor were convenient
facilities.
I asked family and friends what
was important when they planned their
weddings and receptions?
Which
traditional activities did they keep
and what is currently popular?
Committed
couples want to
celebrate their marriage with a
festive party enjoyed with
family and friends.
A feasibility study of the region
confirmed that I can offer a generous
catering package
for a reasonable
price and have the resources to
complete KATKA MTN PEACE GARDENS.
Every couple who celebrates
their marriage at the gardens will
have their names and wedding
date
listed on a THANK YOU plaque
when they are complete It will be
placed under an arch draped
with
pink and yellow climbing roses.
I invite bridal couples to consider
the whole
package I am offering
them and up to 30 guests when
they decide where they want to
get
married and how they want their
marriage celebration catered.
I look forward to working
with
each bride and groom to cater a
unique wedding and reception that
will be remembered
fondly through
their long and happy marriage.
IF I HAD A FLOWER
FOR EVERY
THOUGHT OF YOU
MY GARDEN
WOULD BLOOM
